Response to: Introduction & Chapter 1 – of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s The Real Anthony Fauci

Although I had heard of some of Fauci’s abuses of power, none of the sources I have previously read have gone as in-depth. Hearing of the ecological impacts that Fauci has had was astonishing. I had no idea that the FDA receives 45 percent of its budget from pharmaceutical companies. This idea is extremely troubling as it clarifies how easily public health can be exploited for money. In conjunction with the previous readings and videos, it now makes sense why covid-19 was turned into a source of politicization and monetization. Personally, I do not believe that the medical system can work to benefit the greater good of society when individual organizations can benefit immensely from the promotion of particular medicines and treatment plans. Furthermore, the level to which the economy was detrimented by Fauci’s lockdown is astonishing. Previously, I held the perspective that the lockdown was for the greater good regarding public health. After hearing of the censorship of information, especially the misinformation/ lack of information surrounding early interventions and certain medicines for covid-19, I do not believe that what was done was at all to benefit public health but rather was a grab for power. Fauci’s lockdown shattered the economy and helped the upper class while destroying the middle class. This imposition could be somewhat justified if it was to protect the people, but it has come to light that the lockdown was not solely for that purpose.

Furthermore, I was horrified to read of Fauci’s neglectful attitude in regard to other upward disease trends. For example, he has neglected to understand and examine upward trends in diseases such as asthma, allergies, anaphylaxis, and autism. He did nothing to design studies to understand this, showing that he has no desire to protect public health. He also committed what I would consider human rights violations by experimenting on Black and Hispanic foster children. Fauci’s failure to achieve public health goals during Covid-19 makes much more sense upon hearing about his previous failures and dismissal of health issues. Furthermore, Fauci represents power-hungry ideals as his acolyte tried to make criticisms of Fauci a felony, thus discouraging conversations surrounding his methods and how they may not be the best.

In chapter one of JFK Jr’s book, many topics discussed in previous reading were reinforced. For one, the censorship of doctors with opposing viewpoints. Particularly page 55 stood out to me as multiple repercussions (i.e.: loss of board certification, censorship, and repressive policies from governments/ medical boards) were listed as results of disagreement with the typical course of covid-19 treatment. Pharmacies were in control instead of doctors, which is not the proper way to ensure positive patient care. Furthermore, propaganda surrounding other drugs was promoted, saying that people were poisoning themselves or that these drugs were ridiculous solutions. Overall, both chapter one and the introduction bring to light many faults of Fauci, not only within the covid-19 pandemic but also with disease control in general. It is terrifying to recognize how little I know about these things and the discrepancies between what is promoted in mainstream media. Of course, it will require more research for me to formulate a solidified opinion regarding the FDA, CDC, and the treatment of covid-19, but after reading this chapter and other articles, my viewpoint has been greatly expanded and shifted.
